Quality of Experience of Latency Sensitive Apps on a Modern Home Wi-Fi Network

A high-resolution WhatsApp video may only need about 3Mbps of bandwidth, do we even need QoS tagging for this traffic when we have a modern home router that supports well over 1Gbps throughput and a WAN connection with a dedicated 1Gbps Fiber connection? In this presentation we show some real test results from testing in real homes and also in a Home-in-a-Box lab setup where we create scenarios in which we have 20-30 Wi-Fi devices of different varieties all the way down to 802.11b and at various distances from the APs including at the edge of cell scenarios and show test results of how real medium utilization in practical home conditions can really create a difference in user experience with and without QoS on latency sensitive applications.
