Introduction to MikroTik Deep Dive Phx 25

Disclaimer: If you already have experience with MikroTik devices and the UI, this class will be a refresher and while you will still learn new things, you will finish the labs early. If this is you, the Advanced MikroTik Operations deep dive could be a better fit.

If you've ever wanted to set up a home lab or create a portable network but didn't know where to start, MikroTik is an excellent option. However, many people find MikroTik devices to be less user-friendly, which can be a hurdle for beginners. This deep dive aims to introduce students to the MikroTik portfolio and its functionalities. We'll explore the basic functions of a MikroTik router that every Wi-Fi professional should know, along with additional features not typically found in such affordable routers. Students will also gain hands-on experience, which is crucial for understanding the practical applications of these devices. By the end of this two-day deep dive, attendees will have the knowledge and resources needed to build both wired and wireless networks for any use case they may have.

This deep dive will focus on the following objectives:

1. Set up a MikroTik Router to support mulitple VLANs
2. Build both access and trunk ports
3. Configure the MikroTik firewall to control traffic
4. Utilize the DHCP server on the MikroTik
5. Utilize the packet sniffing mode on the MikroTik to capture traffic
