Introducing pSSID, and Open-Source Enterprise Scale Wi-Fi Monitoring System
Spotlight Presentations
Phoenix AZ USA 2025pSSID is an open source Wi-Fi monitoring system developed at the University of Michigan in collaboration with Virginia Tech. The goal is to create an enterprise scale open-source monitoring tool that is easy to configure and deploy. pSSID uses a custom web GUI to configure and provision monitoring probes via Ansible. Probes generate performance metrics with perfSONAR, which are archived in an OpenSearch database for analysis and visualization. We are currently using Raspberry Pi 4 as the probe hardware. pSSID is currently undergoing an Alpha deployment at the University of Michigan, and is publicly available for download and deployment. This presentation will give an overview of pSSID's architecture, capabilities, and installation. Note: I can give a 20 min presentation but 10 would be fine as well. Thanks!
