Advanced MikroTik Operations Deep Dive PHX 25
Deep Dives
Phoenix AZ USA 2025Disclaimer: The Introduction to MikroTik deep dive isn’ta prerequisite to take this class, but if you don’t have any experience with MikroTik devices or the UI, these labs will take longer for you to complete. If this is you, the Introduction to MikroTik deep dive might be a better fit.
MikroTik routers are known for being powerful devices but configuring them to be useful is also known to be… challenging at best. Building upon the Introduction to MikroTik class, this deep dive expands the capability of the wireless engineer to provide advanced services on demand and utilize the router for several different use cases in their lab environment. From testing different encryption and authentication methods, including WPA3-Enterprise, to speedtest servers that top out at 10 Gbps, to VPN servers for encrypted site-to-site VPN tunnels as well as individual VPN connections, the modern MikroTik router can do it all. While MikroTik routers might not support 6 GHz yet, getting the latest APs isn’t the challenge for Wi-Fi professionals. Offering a centralized user authentication service, a 10 Gbps speed test server, and various other tools presents a different challenge.
Until now.
This deep dive will focus on the following objectives:
- Set up & Configure several MikroTik Routers.
- Utilize the MikroTik as a RADIUS server to supportEAP-TLS, EAP-TTLS, and EAP-PEAP.
- Configure the MikroTik to allow for remote VPN access and site-to-site encrypted tunnels.
- Utilize containers to run freeRADIUS and Speedtest Servers.
- Troubleshoot with the MikroTik using packet captures, Torch, and graphing.
What the student receives as part of the deep dive: (Exact parts TBD)
- A MikroTik wired router
- A MikroTik Wi-Fi router
- Everything to connect it together
